Here are some things to think about before we get started.
Collocation: Is you putting your own server into our server room. The client is usually responsible for managing updates, backups and operation of the server, however netspace can be contracted to do this if needed. This is sometimes referred to as co-location or colocation.
Managed Server: This is where we will manage one of our own servers for you but you will have sole rights to that server.
Managed Soluton: This invloves many servers managed together in a package, usually with both test and live environments, an isolated database server and remote disaster recovery. This can also include load balance, database replication or any other configuration requirements.
Shared Hosting: We'd recommend you contact Face Limited or an ISP.
Can be a single server, test and live servers, web servers and databse server or a full package including load balance servers, web servers, database sevrers and disaster recovery servers housed off site.
The SLA you choose will be dependent on the availabilty and response time you require.
The two platforms we traditionally work with are Microsoft Windows or Linux.
Our Windows web servers are running Microsoft Windows 2000 or 2003 with IIS 5.0 or 6.0. We run MSSQL 6.0 or 2003 on either 2000 or 2003 servers.
Our Linux servers are Debian Sarge running 2.6 kernal. We use Apache 1.3 or 2.0 as the web server and mysql 4.0, 4.1 or 5.0 as the database.
